From chirps, to mimicries, to booming noises – there are so many unique tunes that get sung by the birds of Whangārei!

We’ve launched a fun weekly ‘Who’s Calling?’ quiz on our Facebook page and website to help locals get more familiar with identifying the bird calls from around our wonderful district.

With the continued predator control carried out by many individuals and community groups, we should one day see a thriving native wildlife and enjoy the outcomes of these dedicated conservation efforts.

As people increasingly join and work towards the predator free vision, we hope residents become more versed in being able to identify birds and take part in monitoring initiatives, like the annual Garden Bird Survey or any other local bird call surveys carried out by community groups.

The ‘Who’s Calling?’ campaign begins this week and the answers to the weekly Facebook quiz will be posted on this page.
